Annual Punta Gorda Quickdraw Competition

The 2019 Annual Punta Gorda Quickdraw is presented by the Visual Arts Center and Peace River Painters. ­This is a fun and friendly competition where artists have three and a half hours (8:30am - 12:00pm) to depict picturesque historical Punta Gorda in the medium of their choice. ­This competition is open to all 2D artists. Registration is limited to 50 artists on a first come, first served basis.

Registration is $30/person. You may also register the day of the event with cash or check, IF there are spots left. Be sure to download the registration packet, which includes a detailed timeline timeline of events for the day.

Collector's Preview Luncheon

A Collector’s Preview starts at 1:00pm in the Main Gallery. The public is invited to enjoy a meet and greet with participating artists and preview the freshly‑finished paintings and the current plein air show, in the Main Gallery. A Sandwich Buffet is available for purchase ($10 per person). To Prepay for your Lunch here, select 'Pre-Order Lunch' from the drop-down menu.


One painting may be submitted per artist. Prizes are in the form of ribbons and cash. Our sponsors provide awards for $300 First Prize, $200 Second Prize and $100 ­Third Prize plus Merit for best non-oil medium, Merit for best architectural subject, and Merit for best use of light. ­There will also be a Best of Show award for the combined Annual Show and Quickdraw paintings. 

Master Artist Dan Graziano will judge this year’s competition, as well as host a “Painting from Still Life” January 12 & 13, from 9am - 4pm - Learn More and Register for Dan's Workshop.

Artist Sales

Artwork will be displayed for sale at the Visual Arts Center from January 15 -January 31, 2019. Any artwork sales must go through the Visual Arts Center. ­Thirty percent (30%)  of sales will benefit the Visual Arts center. Proceeds support current and future Visual Art Center events and help the VAC with its mission of supporting artists at all levels of their careers through exhibition and education. ­The Visual Arts Center and Peace River Painters will not be liable for any artwork displayed.
