Draw & Paint with Unwin - INTRODUCTION TO SCRATCHBOARD - 1 DAY WORKSHOP

  • $180.00

Learn the art of Scratchboard with Sheryl Unwin at the Visual Arts Center (VAC).  Scratchboard is a form of engraving by scratching off dark ink to reveal the image underneath.  It is an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for engraving into a thin layer of white China clay coated with dark, often black India ink.  With a supplied practice board, try out different tools and techniques for different effects:  furring, stippling, and cross hatching.  Transfer the image to a 5"x7" Ampersand Scratchboard that you can bring with you or purchased from the VAC Art Supply Store.
