Master Workshop with Atkielski - PALETTE KNIFE OIL PAINTING
Study Pallette Knife Painting with Jan Ellen Atkielski in a 2-Day Master Workshop at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). This information-packed workshop is designed to give a good foundation for bold, direct palette knife painting. The workshop will accommodate 5 to 20 painters. (Beginner to Advanced). Participants can expect to produce at least one painting.
Class starts with a demonstration focusing on the most direct and effective methods for painting strong, vibrant oils using painting knives and a limited palette. Participants are encouraged to ask questions during the demonstration. Afterwards, participants will paint from their own photography or may choose to paint from one of the large photos provided for them by Jan Ellen (the instructor). During this time, Jan will go around to each person offering suggestions focusing on their individual needs. A critique will begin at 2:45 pm on the last day.

Jan Ellen Atkielski: Jan Ellen is a “contemporary impressionist” who works from photography or directly from nature, emphasizing the effect and natural light in her work. She’s a professional artist with a bachelor’s Degree in Art and has exhibited for over 40 years. A published author and popular lecturer, Jan’s art has been featured in Home Decor Magazine-Milwaukee, M Magazine Milwaukee, Happenings Arts & Entertainment Magazine, Grandeur Magazine, HGTV, Fox News TV6-Milwaukee and National Public Television. Located in Cape Coral, Florida, she has been privileged to work across the United States, Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Norway. Deposits, Cancellations & Refunds: All workshop dates and times are subject to change. Workshops with a start date within 30 days require payment in full to reserve a place.
If the tuition for a Workshop exceeds $200, typically a space can be reserved up to 30 days prior with a non-refundable reservation deposit ranging from $45 to $60 ($36 to $48 VAC Member). If this option is available, the amount will be listed under the workshop description and will be available for space reservation online. The full balance is due 30 days prior to the workshop start date. Reservation deposits are non-refundable unless the workshop is cancelled by the VAC. Prepaid class or workshop fees (paid more than 30 days in advance) are refundable less the non-refundable reservation deposit up until 30 days prior to a class start date at which time all class and workshop fees become non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by the VAC.
Please register early. Workshops with less than five registered students may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance of the start date. Cancellation notifications are made by email and/or telephone (including voice messages) to the email address and telephone number on file. Please check your voice mail and email prior to leaving for class.
