Draw & Paint 1 Day Workshop with Keirce - Oil Painting Still Life in Layers

  • $180.00

Come paint with Debra Keirce in a 1-Day Workshop at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). In this 1- day workshop you will use modern material similar to how the old masters would have used them. Debra Keirce teaches drawing and painting in layers from photos. Her painting layers are thin, letting them dry before each one is applied, so as to make rendering details easier. Keirce emphasizes how each layer has one job, so this workshop will focus on one layer at a time. At the end of the workshop, you will have learned the steps essential to creating realistic art!  This workshop is chockfull of learning, so plan to take notes and ask lots of questions!

Master artists have studied realism for centuries. When you learn to draw and paint realistically, you are learning to turn form. That means you are learning magic! It's an illusion to create art in 2 dimensions that can be understood as a depiction of 3 dimensional objects.

Keirces's painting methods utilize ancient concepts that optimize on speed and realism. Her process is independent of subject matter. That means that you can apply what she shares to any still life, portrait, landscape, seascape, floral, architectural or pet painting you are working on.
