Glass with Newcomb - FUSED GLASS (Beginner)
Study Fused Glass with Cynthia Newcomb at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). Learn about the fusing technique of joining two or more pieces of glass by heat in the kiln. This pre-requisite session will give you an elementary knowledge of kiln formed glass while creating your own beautiful fused and slumped pieces of glass. You will learn fundamental fusing terminology and principles. You will become familiar with all the equipment and materials needed and that are available to you in our Glass Studio. You will also gain an understanding of how warm glass forms and behaves in the kiln and learn basic design techniques.
Students must wear closed-toe shoes to class. $60 of materials, supplies and tax included. First time students will need to purchase a tool kit for $75.
FUSED GLASS - Beginner: $225 ($180 VAC Member) includes $60 of materials with sales tax.
Fridays, 1:00 - 4:00 pmSession: Class meets once each week for 3 hours and is offered in 4-week sessions for $225 (VAC Members $180) and includes $60 of materials with sales tax.
All class dates and times are subject to change. Classes with a start date within 30 days require payment in full to reserve a place. Prepaid class fees (paid more than 30 days in advance) are refundable less a non-refundable reservation deposit of $30 (VAC Members $25) up until 30 days prior to a class start date at which time all class fees become non-refundable unless the class is cancelled by the VAC.
Please register early. Classes with less than five registered students may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance of the start date. Cancellation notifications are made by email and/or telephone (including voice messages) to the email address and telephone number on file. Please check your voice mail and email prior to leaving for class.
