Workshop with Pavon - STILL LIFE IN PASTEL

  • $125.00

Study Pastels with Robert Pavon in a 1-Day Workshop at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). If you have ever wanted to learn about color, drawing, or pastels, this is the class for you. In this workshop we will explore the use of pastels to produce a beautiful still life while exploring drawing color and learning solid drawing skills. The use of a still life is a great way to practice and hone your drawing skills without the added stress of having to be perfect like a figure or portrait.

Still life drawing dates back to the renaissance and has been a very sought after genre for both artist and art lovers. In this class we will explore some basic lighting and compositional rules to help set up a still life and finally draw a beautiful picture. Students will draw at least two pictures but more can be done depending on students’ abilities. We will also explore the use of different surfaces and tools for different effects, including black paper for a chiaroscuro effect much like the old master’s paintings.
