Art & the Human Brain - Madeleine E. Hackney Ph.D-Member-January 25

  • $10.00

Join us for the second session of the Art in the Human Brain series: Neuroscience & the Visual Arts. Our first speaker, Dr. Madeleine Hackney, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University, will present on the topic This is Your Brain on Art.

Dr. Hackney’s research explores the profound benefits of engaging with art in various groups, including older adults, military personnel, and children with autism, with or without dementia. While the role of creativity in visual arts has been less studied, it holds significant promise as a tool for maintaining brain health and fostering cognitive resilience.

Through her presentation, Dr. Hackney will highlight the therapeutic potential of creativity and visual art, emphasizing its ability to bridge generational divides on complex issues such as addiction and justice. Attendees will also have an opportunity to test their own creative boundaries and explore the transformative power of art for brain health.

We look forward to seeing you there!
