Jewelry with Priess | ENAMELING | Beginner/Intermediate & Advanced Sessions

Learn Jewelry Enameling with Instructor Susan Priess at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). Susan offers two levels of instruction, a 6-week enameling class for beginner and intermediate students, and for those with enameling and metalsmithing experience, an advanced level class to expand and grow enameling techniques. Both sessions require a Basic Tool Kit which can be purchased or rented. Each class has a material fee paid to the instructor to cover enamels, adhesives, embellishments and other consumables.
Basic Tool Kit: $35 for Purchase (you own it) at first class, or Rent it for $15 per 6 week session.
Material Fee: $12 Material Fee paid to instructor per 6-week session (covers enamels, adhesives, embellishments and other consumables).
Available for Purchase: Die-cut copper forms and other materials
Enameling | Beginner & Intermediate (6 Weeks) . . . Learn the basics of enameling jewelry, including using enameling tools, kiln safety, working with powdered glass, and embellishing your enamel work with glass frit, millefiori, and reflective beads. You will apply vitreous enamel to metal using a sifter and a brush, learn the sgrafitto technique, explore cloisonné and champlevé. See powdered glass bring metal alive with glowing colors after firing with precision and evolve into glorious original jewelry designed by you!
Enameling |Advanced (6 Weeks) . . . Take your enameling skills to the next level. Once you have gained confidence from the Beginning & Intermediate session, reach new heights with enameling techniques. Students should have some enameling experience, either a previous enameling class at the VAC or equivalent study. Previous study and/or experience with metalsmithing is very helpful.

Class Refund: Class tuition is fully refundable, less a non-refundable reservation deposit of $25 ($20 VAC Member) up until 30 days prior to class. An Education Credit (less non-refundable deposit) may be issued towards a future class between 29 days and 10 days prior to class start.
