"Pineapples in Paradise" Exhibit is all about beautiful Punta Gorda! As you may know, the pineapple has long symbolized hospitality, welcome & prosperity. What many of you may be surprised to know is that Punta Gorda and Charlotte Harbor were once known as the Pineapple Capitol, as far back as the 1880s, and long before Hawaii! Some of Punta Gorda’s earliest residents, including Albert Gilchrist, established pineries in the eastern Punta Gorda neighborhood of Solona. We want your artwork to communicate to us the beauty of the "Paradise" that we all are privileged to call home. It is NOT necessary for you to have pineapples in your artwork. The show will accept entries of both 2D & 3D artwork and it is open to both members & non-members. Artwork may NOT have been previously displayed at the Visual Art Center.
PINEAPPLES IN PARADISE will be on display in both Main & Goff Gallery September 12th - October 12th, 2024. The Awards Presentation will be September 19th, at 5:00pm to 7pm.
ENTRY FEES: Members: $25 for 1 entry, $40 for 2 entries, $55 for 3 entries. Non-members: $35 for 1 entry, $50 for 2 entries, $65 for 3 entries
Registration will be online only, in advance. Deadline for registration is August 19th, 2024 at noon. Please pay your registration fees online by credit card and schedule an appointment to bring in your artwork September 9th between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm.
All artwork MUST be photographed & sent via email to: Exhibits@visualartcenter.org. Please include the art information (Your name, Title,Media,Size,& Pirce or NFS (Not for sale) for each photo.

Visual Arts Center commission on sales is 35%. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- First Prize: $1000
- Second Prize: $250
- Third Prize: $100
- Bowles Portrait: $500
- 3 Merit Awards
- People's Choice: $100
Removal of unsold art is October 12th from 10am to 2pm. No appointment needed.
