Develop your Pottery skills with Ricardo Hicks at the Visual Arts Center's (VAC) Pottery Studio. After mastering the basics of centering, pulling and shaping, explore the art of throwing larger out of round pots and other projects of the potter's choice. Rick offers two levels of Big & Tall classes, one for beginners and an advanced class for those more experienced with a desire to explore their own creative talents.

Pottery Handbuild: Big & Tall | Beginner
For those who want to go further using hand building techniques to create bigger and more unique pottery pieces with instruction. You will learn tips, tricks, and new potter skills with a focus on big and tall pieces. Glaze techniques are included.

Pottery Handbuild: Big & Tall | Advanced
Once you have mastered the basics of big and tall handbuilding techniques, get creative and work on your individual projects with guidance from your instructor. This is an opportunity for you to try new things and explore a variety of glaze combinations. Advanced glaze techniques are included.

Supplies (both classes): Basic pottery tools are required and can be purchased for $21 in the VAC Supply Store. Must use clay purchased at Visual Arts Center for VAC kilns. Classes include approximately $60 of clay, glazing (using VAC standard glazes) and firing.. Additional clay available for purchase.
