OH HENRI! - A Celebration of Henri Matisse

On Display in Goff Gallery October 21 to November 18, 2025

We invite artists to submit works inspired by Matisse's bold color, expressive line, and joyful creativity.  This exhibit is a fundraiser for the Visual Arts Center.  It is free to enter. This non-juried exhibit will accept entries of both 2D & 3D artwork and is open to both VAC Member Artists & Guest Artists (non-members).  To learn about VAC Membership, Click Here.

Originality Policy:  Henry Matisse is now in Public Domain.  There is no copyright associated with his art.  YOU MAY COPY a Matisse work for the exhibit OR choose to work in the style of Matisse

Silent Auction & Share of Sales:  Seven paintings that are copies of a Matisse's work have been donated by VAC artists.  These seven will be part of a silent auction.  All other artwork will be sold with a 50% share to the artists and a 50% share to the VAC. 

If you are a donating artist, please enter "Donation" in the price box for each donated piece.   

If you would like more information about the silent auction, or are interested in donating your art for the auction, please email exhibits@visualartcenter.org.  

ALL ARTWORK

  • Artist's name and title of work must be written on back or bottom of entry.
  • Artwork must be picked up on the specified date unless prior arrangements have been made with Exhibits Coordinator.
  • Artwork left over 15 days will be considered a donation to the VAC.
  • Artwork may not be removed until the closing of the exhibit unless approved by the Exhibits Coordinator.
  • Artwork in any previously juried exhibits at the VAC is still eligible for this fundraising Matisse exhibition.
  • There is no time limit on creation of the art

GUIDELINES FOR EXHIBITING ARTWORK

2D Artwork

  • Must be either gallery wrapped or properly framed - all edges must be finished and completely dry.  If framed, frames must be clean with no chips.
  • Glass or plexiglass is acceptable - if matted, mats must be clean.
  • Pastels and charcoals must be sealed.
  • All surfaces must be dry.
  • Must be securely fastened with picture wire.  The CENTER of the wire must be three inches below the top of the frame.  WIRE MUST BE TAPED - NO SHARP WIRE EXPOSED!  If the wiring or frame can be fixed at the time of receiving, a $5.00 fix charge will be required
  • Weight must not exceed 25 pounds.
  • It can be as big as you like for this exhibit.  

3-D Artwork

  • Artwork must fit within VAC pedestal (16.5" x 16.5") or artist must provide own pedestal.
  • Weight up to 35 pounds is acceptable. 
    • *If over 35 pounds, the artist is responsible for placement of artwork with the approval of the Receiving Committee.
  • Jewelry must be on stands provided by artist.  Some jewelry may be placed in VAC case.  

The VAC Receiving Committee reserves the right to refuse any work that is poorly presented and/or does not meet the "Guidelines for Exhibiting Artwork," as described above.

REGISTRATION & ENTRY FEES

There are no entry fees for this exhibit, however, online registration is required.  You may enter up to Three pieces.  *If you would like to enter more, contact exhibits@visualartcenter.org.

  • Guest Artist Future Member | $0 for 1 Entry | $0 for 2 Entries | $0 for 3 Entries

Registration must be completed online by deadline.  Fill in the fields above for each entry (art title, medium, size & price) and upload a photograph of each entry in jpg format with the artist name and artwork title in the photo file name. For this exhibit, photos are not required, but preferred.   Photos of artwork to be uploaded at the time of registration.  If you have any difficulty registering, email exhibits@visualartcenter.org.

PRIZES & AWARDS

This exhibit is a Fundraiser for the Visual Arts Center.  There is no entry fee.  There are no cash awards, but the rewards for helping the Visual Arts Center.  Since this is a Fundraiser, if your work does not sell, you may enter it in another VAC exhibit.

ART SALES | Artist receives 50% | VAC's share is 50% unless you are a donating artist.
