Create a one-of-a-kind serving platter perfect for entertaining! In this fun and creative handbuilding class, you'll learn how to transform slabs of clay into a functional chips and salsa platter featuring a built-in salsa bowl. Explore a variety of texture tools and techniques to add visual interest and personality to your piece while learning essential slab construction methods.

Students will learn how to:

  • Roll and prepare clay slabs
  • Apply textures and patterns to clay surfaces
  • Design and construct a divided chips and salsa platter
  • Create and attach a built-in salsa bowl
  • Refine edges and add decorative details
  • Prepare work for glazing and firing

No prior clay experience is required. This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced plotters alike. Finished pieces will be glazed and fired, resulting in a durable, food-safe platter ready for your next gathering.

        Skill Level:  Beginner to Intermediate

        Project: One textured slab chips and salsa platter with integrated salsa bowl

        Materials: Clay, tools, glazes, and firing included (unless otherwise noted)

        What to bring: Apron and a hand towel (optional)
